Laura Logsdon: The Rest Of the Story 

The Rest of the Story is a follow up to the courageous stories told in God is Bigger Than Your Grief of amazing Christians that drew closer to Christ through their grief. 

Laura lost her son Jayson to suicide at age 12.  The remarkable story of how she has given her grief to Christ is in Chapter 4 “When Will the Ache Go Away?”

Praise God Romans 8: 28 “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”  I remember hearing this verse at a church retreat and wondering how could anything good come of  Jayson’s death. It has been over 8 ½ years and we all miss him so terribly. Through it all God has continued to work in mighty ways. My family and I are very involved at Bonhomme Presbyterian Church in Chesterfield Missouri which is where we were going when this all happened. I truly thank God for so many people at Bonhomme who wrapped there arms around us and held us and showed us what a church family is. We laugh & learn together and it is wonderful.

The Alpha course I in the book mentioned continues to grow – it is offered at Bonhomme and lots of places internationally! Alpha is a practical introduction to the Christian faith. Please check out the website www.alphausa.org and find a course close to you. Just try it! As was mentioned in the book—in some of my darkest times God used this to reveal himself to me in so many ways.

Be A Positive Light ministry continues to grow. God keeps expanding the territory and the more I am pushed the more I know it is him at work. I have now talked to thousands of students, done as many as 7 talks in one day; 8 talks over 2 days, gone out of town for talks thru rain, snow and ice, been on TV, been on the radio, interviewed for this book and who knows but Him what is next!!! Hold on for the great adventure. Sometimes it is really really really scary but I know He is in control. I am truly blessed to have the support of the Bonhomme Intercessory Prayer team and my family who pray for me every time I do these talks. It is a team effort and they are a huge part of it. I thank God for such support.

My husband, daughter and I began praying every morning together. My daughter has left for college this fall and is about 1400 miles away but we still call and pray and she wants us too!!! How awesome is that. Our extended family we all live with the pain deep in our souls and things are broken— Jayson’s family & friends will never be the same. Jesus never said it would be easy. My daughter’s favorite bible verse: Philippians 4:13 “I can do everything through him who gives me strength.” That is Truth. He did promise he would never leave or forsake us and that is how we continue.
