Christina’s Epilog
Christina’s battle against cancer was marked with many victories that could have come only from Jesus. God gave her miracles. The miracle of not one but two beautiful and healthy boys despite the cancer in their mom’s body throughout pregnancy, the countless times doctors told her she would not survive, only to prove them wrong, and the amazing gift of a full life, where many of her friends said “I had no idea she was that sick.” Christina knew she was blessed with countless miracles and cherished each and every one.
Christina’s young life was full of hard choices. The choice that defined her path was a choice to focus on life and not on cancer. It was a choice to LIVE everyday. It was not her desire to make herself or her disease the center of attention and it never was. It seems impossible in her situation but with Christ all things are possible and she allowed Christ to strengthen and lead her every day. Through days of pain and heartache she was able to radiate a joy and peace that most will never experience or understand.
In July of 2007, the cancer had overtaken her body. Throughout the next few months, her body became weaker while her faith and love for our Lord became stronger. She spoke about the possibility of her death with sadness when thinking of her husband and children but she knew that God would always take care of her family. Christina went home to our Lord on September 1, 2007. What a reunion that must have been! Her husband Stephen and children Ashley (12), Amanda (11), Alyssa (9), Alex (6) and Austin (5) miss her dearly but are adjusting to life without her. Christina left behind a beautiful album of a life lived well for all of us to open up and remember. Let her example motivate you to seek the peace of Christ which surpasses all understanding-Christina’s peace.
