About the Illustrator: Dave Fiala

The most important element of a book is obviously the words. When presented in a pleasing visual style, the message can have an even more forceful impact. The graphic designer and illustrator for God is Bigger Than Your Cancer marries the text with soothing design and fonts to complete the pleasant arrangement. Dave Fiala balances classic simplicity with inviting creativity, hopeful to somewhat relax a delicate subject matter. Fiala emphasizes key phrases and metaphors with playful typography and photo illustrations, leaving readers with accented messages to identify and remember.

Fiala received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska. He worked for nine years in Lincoln, Nebraska, doing traditional watercolor and colored pencil illustrations for Smart Computing and CPU magazines. He has since moved to St Louis, Missouri, where he works as a graphic designer for a sign company, while continuing to illustrate on a freelance basis. His lovely wife, Amber, is a school teacher and they have two fantastic sons, Devon and Ian. Fiala enjoys sports, appreciates lazy evenings, and loves spending time with his beautiful family.
